In the current season (2018/19), linseed exports from Ukraine has fallen to the lowest in ten seasons: 4.8 KMT against 15.2 KMT a year earlier. The export statistics decline resulted from a 32.3% slump in the crop (preliminary harvest results), reports UkrAgroConsult.

Traditionally, this season’s linseed exports went mostly to the EU (44%), although supplies to this market were reduced by more than half. At the same time, stability is observed in sales to Bangladesh: 0.7 KMT (15%). In addition, Vietnam and Egypt – last season’s top importers – yielded their export shares to Taiwan and Algeria. The latter countries absorb 6% of Ukrainian linseed exports each.

UkrAgroConsult estimates the linseed market’s total export potential in MY 2018/19 at 10-11 KMT.
