Turkey actively purchasing feed grains this season

In October, Turkey purchased a record monthly volume of Ukrainian barley, and thereby pushed aside its top importers – the EU, Saudi Arabia and China. Such a rush can be explained by the desire to replenish stocks in advance, while sufficient supply is available at an attractive price in the world market.

Apart from barley, Turkey actively purchased corn and wheat this season. Corn imports increased 6 times, barley import – up 23 times and wheat purchases – up 6 times, reports UkrAgroConsult.

In the Turkish market, Russian grains successfully compete with their counterparts from Ukraine. Russian exporters significantly increased exports of corn (up 10 times) and wheat (a 77% gain).

This season’s coarse grain imports to Turkey should be expected to exceed the 2018/19 level.
