10 December, 2021 at 15:12

4.7 KMT of Ukrainian corn starch was exported in October (+61% from September, +150% from October 2020/21). 7.5 KMT had been exported since the beginning of the season (+69% y-o-y).

Nevertheless, starch production in Ukraine decreased: 15 KMT was produced in the first two months of the season, or 14% less than a year earlier.

China remains the top buyer of Ukrainian starch, with its export share equaling 32% and purchases being 27 times higher than last year; UkrAgroConsult reports.

The following importers also stepped up purchases compared to the same period last year: the EU (+90%), Malaysia (up 2.5 times) and Taiwan (up 3.3 times).

The exception is Indonesia, which reduced starch imports from Ukraine by 11% vs. September-October 2020.

Nigeria and Thailand made no starch purchases in September-October 2020, but in the first two months of this season they already imported 1.34 KMT combined.
