UkrAgroConsult raising its forecast for Ukraine’s corn crop and exports

21 December, 2021 at 13:12

According to the latest information (as of December 9), yield has reached 7.47 MT/ha that is the second highest since 2018. Farmers have harvested corn from almost 5.35 Ml ha (98% complete), with its crop production already exceeding 40 MMT in bunker weight, UkrAgroConsult reports.

An expansion of planted areas combined with a good yield level resulted in a bumper crop. We believe the yield after conditioning could remain at 7.2 MT/ha that is quite likely to bring the crop up to about 39-40 MMT in net weight.

UkrAgroConsult slightly raises its corn export forecast.

Late harvesting caused a lag in exports early in the season: old-crop carryovers and the first harvested portions of new-crop corn were shipped in small volumes. December shipments show the acceleration of corn exports from ports.

China, EU, Iran, Turkey and Egypt will remain among the perspective markets for Ukrainian corn in the current season.
