Farmers of western Romania expect maximum rapeseed yield

24 March, 2026 at 17:03

Rapeseed remains one of the most profitable crops for Romanian farmers, particularly now in the context of its price relation to crude oil market. Crops look good currently and actively develop the leave apparatus, benefiting from warm weather and good moisture reserves.

However, farmers of the south-eastern regions say that crops are underdeveloped due to high humidity and cold autumn. Some plants are unlikely to survive or provide a profitable yield, which means a decrease in harvested area in this part of Romania.

By contrast, western farmers expect good yields. Some of them explain that not only by weather conditions, but by correct technologies, they manage to implement each year.

Thus, general crop potential of Romanian rapeseed remains promising. Currently, for the successful crop development plants need the soil moisture to be consistent in the spring period. Plant consumption will increase exponentially with the warming of the weather.

Western farmers have already started spring treatments, expecting maximum production.
