Romania. Air temperature drop jeopardized winter barley and rape

Air temperatures in Romania fell noticeably last week. In the south-west, the average air temperature was 4..2°С below long-term normal. The average daytime air temperature varied within -12..+4°С.
Precipitation in the form of snow occurred all over the country; the ground got covered with snow. However, the heaviest snowfalls were registered in the north (5-10 mm over the week).
Barley and rape crops were under the risk of winter kill in some regions where snow cover was not high enough while air temperature dropped below -12..-15°С, reports UkrAgroConsult.
