Turkey lifts ban on milling wheat exports

29 July, 2026 at 14:07

The Turkish Grain Board (TMO) has authorized exports of milling wheat starting July 29, lifting a ban that had been in place since March 2025, the agency announced on Wednesday.

The decision was based on an assessment showing that domestic supplies are sufficient, taking into account production volumes, existing stocks and domestic consumption needs.

However, exports will remain subject to government oversight. Each export application will be reviewed by a dedicated committee, which will assess the domestic supply situation to ensure that trade remains balanced and controlled.

As a result, milling wheat exports will require committee approval, allowing the authorities to regulate export volumes whenever necessary.
