Romanian exports of rapeseed hit new records in the current season

A strong rapeseed crop combined with supply disruptions from other Black Sea origins has significantly strengthened Romania’s export position. Shipments through Constanța have reached very high levels, while demand geography has expanded with the return of Turkey, which previously relied primarily on Ukrainian rapeseed. This once again confirms the growing role of Constanța as a regional hub for oilseeds and vegetable oils from the Black Sea–Danube region. Some of these new trade flows could remain in place even after Ukrainian exports recover if stable supply chains become established.

Strong market conditions in the current season contrast with the deteriorating outlook for the 2027 rapeseed crop. Insufficient soil moisture is complicating field preparation and winter rapeseed planting across several countries in the region. Weather conditions may therefore limit acreage expansion despite attractive crop economics and strong demand.
