China reduced sunflower oil imports from Kazakhstan

Monthly sunflower oil exports from Kazakhstan hit new highs during the first three months in MY 2018/19. Consequently, the combined export volume in September-November is record-high, too: 17.3 KMT against 15 KMT a year earlier, reports UkrAgroConsult.

As Kazakhstan has aimed at stepping up oilseed production and processing, the 2018/19 season will bring export statistics up to a new level of at least 80 KMT.

The current season has witnessed changes in the ranking of traditional major importers of Kazakh sunflower oil (a combined export share of 98%). China reduced purchases by almost 39% and thereby yielded its place to Tajikistan (48%) and Uzbekistan (30%). In addition, Kazakhstan expands exports to the European market, but they are still insignificant.
