Turkey imported 804 KMT of sunflower seed in January-June (up 278 KMT year-on-year), reports UkrAgroConsult on the basis of estimates made by Oil World.
The top importers include Moldova (286 KMT), Romania (168 KMT) and Russia (135 KMT). Imports from Russia increased manifold against last year, when 3 KMT was purchased. Supplies from Argentina rose to 31 KMT. For the first time, Turkey bought sunflower seed from Hungary (16 KMT).
Imports of the commodity are forecast to lower in July-December because of domestic production and an increase in import tariff (from USD 59/MT to USD 90/MT).
