Barley and pea planting started in Ukraine

Fieldwork in Ukraine has started: barley and pea planting is already in progress in Kherson and Mykolaiv regions, said the first deputy ag minister.

Farmers in Kherson region seeded 4.3 Th ha by April 2, including 4 Th ha to barley and 0.3 Th ha to peas.  0.6 Th ha was seeded to barley in Mykolaiv region, reports UkrAgroConsult.

Noteworthy, 962 Th ha of spring barley (56% of its target area) and 276 Th ha of peas were already sown in Ukraine by the same date last year. In addition, 93 Th ha of spring wheat (49%) and 98 Th ha of oats (47%) were planted at the time.

The deputy minister added that Ukrainian growers had stockpiled 80-100% of necessary inputs. As of March 30, farmers were already provided with 100% of needed seeds (638 KMT), 91% of plant protection products (27.4 KMT), 81% of fuels (326 KMT) and 98% of fertilizers.
