Romania to reduce its rapeseed production and export potential

5 October, 2018 at 07:10

Romanian rapeseed exports set another record in the 2017/18 season, UkrAgroConsult’s analysts note. The country managed to substantially improve its export statistics in MY 2016/17 and 2017/18 owing to a steady expansion of rape plantings and favorable weather conditions for the formation of record yields.

The acreage expansion is promoted by firm demand from EU countries. The share of Romanian rapeseed exports to the EU domestic market increased significantly in the season of 2017/18.

However, in view of unfavorable weather conditions, the estimated total crop of Romanian rapeseed in 2018 is lower than last year despite further expansion of rape plantings. As a result, the country’s export potential will fall, but export pace will remain at enough high level due to high demand from EU counties, reports UkrAgroConsult.
