Ukraine will retain its position in the market of sunflower seed and its products in MY 2019/20

Ukraine closed the 2018/19 season with a number of records in the sunflower seed segment. Its performance was pushed up by a record total crop of sunflower seed, reports UkrAgroConsult.

As a result, sunflower seed exports grew (+133% from MY 2017/18). Its key importers included Turkey with 55% (replaced the EU in the top position), EU countries with 30%, and Azerbaijan with 5%.

Sunflower oil production in MY 2018/19 is estimated at a record 6.5 MMT (up 15.5% from MY 2017/18). Sunflower oil and meal exports reached record levels (up 14.3% for oil and 13.2% for meal compared to MY 2017/18).
