Planting in Ukraine started a month earlier than last year

As of March 4, 2019, farmers had started planting early spring grains in five regions of Ukraine – Zaporizhia, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Kherson and Chernivtsi, reports UkrAgroConsult.

It is projected to sow some 2284 Th ha to early spring grains this season, including 175 Th ha to spring wheat, 1571 Th ha to spring barley and 347 Th ha to peas. 

In addition, fertilization of winter grains continues in Ukraine, which is already 50% complete at 3786.1 Th ha. In particular, growers had fertilized 6449.3 Th ha (49% of the plan) of winter wheat, 115 Th ha (22%) of winter rye and 1007.7 Th ha (60%) of winter barley by the reporting date.
