Ukraine exported 3.3 MMT of barley in July-March 2018/19, or 19% less than in the same period last season and down 14% from the five-year average for these months, reports UkrAgroConsult.

In March, Ukrainian barley was shipped mostly to Algeria and Israel.

Similar to a year ago, Saudi Arabia and China remain the top importers of Ukrainian barley this season. Saudi Arabia imported 2.2 MMT in July-March 2018/19 that is already 17% more than in the whole of MY 2017/18 (1.9 MMT). China, on the contrary, reduced barley purchases from Ukraine to 321.9 KMT at the time against 789.4 KMT in July-March 2017/18.

The EU, which was the third biggest buyer in MY 2017/18, slashed barley imports from Ukraine this season: 32 KMT against 294.6 KMT in July-March 2017/18.
