In the 2018/19 season, Ukrzaliznytsia focused on route grain shipments, due to which many elevators that do not fit the definition of “route” turned out to be virtually cut off from obtaining the required number of railcars.
As a result, in the 2018/19 marketing year, Ukrzaliznytsia transported 36.5 MMT of grain. This is the second highest result after the record 2016/17 season, when 37.2 MMT of grain and its processed products were carried.
In early August, it became known that Ukrzaliznytsia would expand the number of route grain stations by 57 units. In this case, more agricultural producers will get an access to railways.
Experts of UkrAgroConsult see possible advantages and disadvantages based on these changes in the already started 2019/20 season.
UkrAgroConsult believes that exports will increase in the 2019/20 season, and will check effectiveness of the decisions made.
