Ukraine. Winter grains condition remains mostly good and fair

In late December and early January, Ukraine was dominated by relatively warm weather for this time of year. It rained, sleeted and snowed in most of the country.

Almost all over Ukraine, the average daily air temperature was 1.0-5.50С above normal throughout the reporting week.

This past week saw precipitation in the form of rain, sleet and snow all across the country. Its average rates were as follows: 0.4 mm in Zhytomyr region, 2.2 mm in Kherson region, 21.6 mm in Kyiv region, 24.2 mm in Lviv region, 61 mm in Dnipropetrovsk region (171% of monthly normal, according to meteorologists).

Snow cover persists almost all over the country. Its height ranges from 1 to 24 cm; it is only absent in the south of Kherson, Dnipropetrovsk, Mykolaiv, Odesa regions.

In late December, winter grain plants were dormant. No critical temperatures occurred. In general, crop condition did not change this past week. It is rated as mostly good and fair, reports UkrAgroConsult.
