Ukraine to continue increasing production of phosphatide concentrate

Ukraine is the world's top producer of sunflower oil with a 33% share, but its production of phosphatide concentrate is still insignificant. A clear upward trend in output of this product can be seen though, reports UkrAgroConsult.

Prior to 2014, Ukraine only produced and exported sunflower concentrate. Now Ukrainian companies offer the world market soybean concentrate as well, and even rapeseed phosphatide concentrate. Their output increases from year to year. As a result, the production and export structure has undergone substantial changes.

Exports of sunflower phosphatide concentrate from Ukraine grow along with its production. This indicator increased almost six-fold in 2008-2018.

For many years now, EU countries have been the biggest buyers of phosphatide concentrate. India and China joined the list of destinations for phosphatide concentrate in 2018. Their combined export share is still insignificant, at most 2%.

Ukraine has every chance to get ranked high in the global trade in quality sunflower lecithin – similar to its position in the crude sunflower oil market.
