Kazakh wheat exports set a record in February 2017/18

Kazakhstan exported 553.1 KMT of wheat in February 2017/18, i.e. the largest monthly volume since November 2013/14. This is 12% more than in January 2018 and 135% more than in February 2017, reports UkrAgroConsult.

In total, Kazakh exporters shipped abroad 2770.5 KMT of wheat in the first half of MY 2017/18 (September - February) that is 34% more than at the same time last season (2062.6 KMT). In addition, this is a five-year high. 

Kazakh wheat is supplied mostly to Asian countries. As before, the top importer is Uzbekistan, which absorbed 44% of total exports at the time. In addition, the top three buyers of Kazakh wheat steadily include Tajikistan and Afghanistan.

The European Union and Turkey stepped up its purchases.
