In September-April 2018/19 MY pace of Romanian sunseed exports via ports continued to lag behind last season, despite the high crop. During the period in view, exports was down 10% from the same period of 2017/18 MY. This tendency is observed as Romania is decreasing imports of sunseed from its neighbors, reports UkrAgroConsult.

In the current season almost all the exported volume belongs to the EU countries due to low sunseed crop in France - one of the key suppliers of this commodity to the domestic market of the EU. Spain is absent from the key buyers of Romanian sunseed due to higher own crop of this commodity. Along with that, Romania is not losing such big importer as Turkey.

This season sunseed exports from Romania is forecasted to decrease, although this volume is going to be the second largest.
